"The Sims 2" & Laptops
It's not impossible to play "The Sims 2" on a laptop, it just may not be the best experience unless you have a newish laptop. The graphics are not as smooth or detailed, and the max number of Sims allowed on a lot is lowered because of the laptop's hardware. "The Sims Life Stories" will not require a dedicated graphics card, so may be a better choice for the gamer on the go. While it's based on "The Sims 2," it will not be a replacement for most gamers. The best reason for buying, that I can tell without hands-on experience, is as a way to get your fill of Sims while you are away from your desktop.

“Life Stories” is nothing more than a fast $$$-maker for EA. There’s nothing new or innovative about it, so therefore, there’s no real reason to buy it. If your laptop can’t run Sims 2 and you want a “laptop-friendly” Sims game, get Sims 1 (If your laptop can run Life Stories, it can run TS1. Any Vista-related compatibility issues can be worked around.). And for the record, if you want a level-based Sims game, get one of the console Sims games (granted that you have a console to run it on).
By foregoing that worthless piece of rubbish Life Stories for TS1 and/or one of the console games, you will have a more enjoyable Simming experience and you may even save a few $$$. Happy Simming!
I am going to get a laptop in the future and I have a desk top shared with my family and own The Sims 2, University, Nightlife,Pets and Family fun stuff pack. I am aware of The Sims 3 coming next year on Febuary 20th. Rather then put all of of my Sims 2 games on a laptop, I will just settle for The Sims pets stories. Why? Because when I do get The Sims 3 am probably going to have to uninstall all of my The Sims 2 games. Plus The Sims Pet Stories don’t take up much memory.
