"Second Life" Residents Upset About Businesses Joining

It's rare when a day passes and I don't have a Google news alert with an article about how another business is entering "Second Life." Companies like Coldwell Banker are selling and renting real estate. Calvin Klein has a perfume out. ABC recently bought an island. Users are upset because they aren't there to improve the world; they're there only to advertise. Residents of "Second Life" - what are you thoughts on businesses joining?

I don’t really know how to feel, but real world business and politics getting involved with Second Life communicates to me that it’s more than just a game, it’s actually a relevant virtual community.
I think you’re lumping in Coldwell Banker without really knowing what they’re doing. They are the only company that is actually involved in the metaverse. They’re offering a discount on buying land, plus they’re providing actual homes and furniture. Everyone else is just promoting their own stuff. It’s refreshing to see someone who’s in there to be part of Second Life and not just promote themselves.
dmarine – I do understand that. I was just giving examples of some of the businesses that have entered Second Life in the couple of weeks. Either way, some people are still upset they are in Second Life.
