I wasn't expecting much when I clicked on a link to go to "Design My Room." I figured it'd have a few pieces of furniture for me to place and some artwork. What I found was much better than I could have hoped. Kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, offices, kids rooms, garages, you name it, you can probably design it. The online tool has furniture, paint, flooring, and decor items, designed after real items you can buy online.
"Design My Room" is being promoted as a way to start redecorating your rooms before spending any cash. I think it's fun just to play around with different styles. The learning curve is minimal. Flooring, countertops, and the ceiling are easy to place. Getting a fridge to fit perfectly into a space can be tricky.

This is really realistic but has some cons:
- when you put mirrors they dont show up completly, or when you add some beds, ext the whole thing doesn’t always show up. Usual happens with silver/black colors.
-The furnature only moves certain ways, so it doesnt look like it would in real life if you placed the furniture.
-Sometimes takes a while to apply paint, floors or celeings.
- Hard to find what your looking for when looking for furniture, ext.

This website WAS totally awesome! I actually didn’t find out about it from this website, I found it on google. But, some Armstrong flooring company took that website, Design my Room doesn’t even exist anymore!!! I’ve been searching on google, but there is absolutely NOTHING that could compare to Design My Room.

It was all very mysterious. I agree with Marla- there is nothing
that comes close to Design My Room. My intuition is that
their mission was to let people come and use the software
and product lines and create rooms that showcased the products.
It became a vortex for incredibly talented designers.
professional artists, interior designers and photographers.
At some point, their mission to showcase and sell products lines
furniture, paint and stuff was not as clear or visible to potential
buyers or people looking for ways to preview their design ideas.
It would be a million reasons.
It looks like Armstrong and Bruce Hardwoods boughht the DMR
idea and changed the format.
It is/was a GENIUS ideas for a site. I hope they come back with the same format.
This was horrible! I you can do is chose the color of your floors and walls. What about furniture? What about art pieces? Didnt help me at all!
Im sorry, but I really do not like this site anymore!!!!! Before you could choose and mmove around furniture! now you can only change color and flooring!:( am I missing something here? Let me know if so!
This is terrible, the Armstrong site is awful. I miss Design My Room, it was a wonderful site and a great way to explore one’s design capabilities. I can’t believe it is gone.
I agree with everyone who misses the DMR site! Is there anything comparable to it? I’ve done several searches and nothing has panned out. If anyone knows of one, please let us know!!

i agree, the new one SUCKS! im so pissed, they couldn have leaved it like that and just made a link to the website, so PISSED! ugh. i feel bad for the people who didn’t save their designs, i saved all mine on to my i touch, and i just really want it back… and i thought they were advertising well.
I think it sucks that they closed the old DMR. I ran into last year via another site and fell in love with it. I’d love to be an interior designer so this site was so awesome I would plan to spend a half hour on it and spend hours instead. I really enjoyed goofing off and making different rooms it was such an awesome site and this new one sucks…wish they’d bring the old one back!
I agree with anyone who says the new Armstrong site is terrible. There is no other site like the old DMR site. Believe me, I’ve looked! It seems that this is just another of those situations where there are no problems with something but for some reason someone decides to change it! It’s a pity because I’m positive that the new site has a considerable amount of complaints. What I want to know is very simple: WHY WAS THIS SITE CHANGED?? I hope that I may be able to find another similar site, but I highly doubt that will happen. What a shame.

I recognize Daphne’s name–hi it’s me, mythreesons! I cannot tell you how shocked I was to see the old DMR site gone. I am so thankful that I saved many of my designs–not all, but many. That was hours and hours of work gone. My brother who is a designer checked out my designs and we went searching to see what happened with the old one and came up with the same answer.
Please let me know if ANYONE finds a site like the old one. I miss all of our friends too, Tingo, shespice etc…

Im very upset that design my room is gone… one day i was on it and was one my 40th design and i loved them all, and then the next it was some stupid armstrong thing that is a piece of poop… im 14 and have a passion for design and needed a free way to express that and now i have to buy some software or something. but my family cant help me so i have to earn money my mowing yaards all summer, my family is in a bad financial position right now because of the economy… this makes me very sad that it is now gone , and i have no way of designing and doing the only thing i love to do….. if you agree with me and know someone who is very computer savvy and knows how to design games, we should get together and create a new design my room, and make it even better. that way many people can get back to what they enjoy doing for free, with software that actually works, and is as cool, and even better than design my room was! LETS DO IT!!!!
i like the colours in this game, but it would be better if you could choose the furniture aswell, so this is crap !
I searched everywhere to Designmyroom seems to have disappeared, it is very sad because I had a great talent of many people.
I loved this site, it helped me so often with my painting and designing needs. I was really upset to see this go. Thanks for the link to My Deco, I will give it a try.
Just for this I will probably think twice about buying products from Armstrong in the future.
I dont know what this exactly meant 2 do, but ALL it did when i tried it was let you choose a type of wooden flooring and choose a colour for your wall!!!
