Yet another leaked trailer for The Sims 3 has been smuggled onto the Internet, and its contents are sure to make fans bright-eyed and bushy tailed.
The Sims 3 is finally getting pets added to the game in an Unleashed expansion that's apparently also going to be available as a stand-alone release for consoles and handhelds.
Based on the footage, you'll be able to play Frisbee with dogs, watch cats dip their paws in fish bowls and hope that snakes stay comfortably inside their terrariums. Yet the biggest surprise is that you aren't just getting household pets, but other animals as well.
Raccoons will make mischief near your garbage cans, deer will likely eat your flowers and skunks are sure to leave their distinctive scent on anything that frightens them. Oh, and your Sims can ride horses. Pets in the Unleashed expansion will also have traits.
The trailer shows various dog breeds as aggressive, adventurous, stupid, independent, patient and loyal, while the featured cat is playful and "likes to swim," which can't be good news for any pet fish. The anticipated release date for this fifth expansion is October 2011.

Well, all the fans definitely got what they asked for. It is the most requested expansion pack for the sims to date, that and seasons, and yet EA just had to break down and give it to them. I have heard everywhere all the time for months to years about how EA only wants to make money (duh, they are a business people), and they don’t want to listen to people. Well, this is hard to believe considering I wasn’t that big of a fan on them coming out with more pets. You want pets, thats why there is a sims 2 pets. Anyhow, EA still bent over backwards and gave all of the people wanting pets AGAIN, pets … AGAIN. There is so much more EA can do with the sims, and are probably wanting to do, but yet people get on forums and on anything that has the names SIMS on it and demand these games and then complain along with the demand that EA doesn’t listen and blah, blah, blah. So, now hopefully EA has restored everyones faith and can get on not REPLICATING games already made just to appease people and get on with making NEW CONCEPTUAL games tha have not already been produced. -facepalms-
Oh and one other thing, EA also listened to everyone requesting and DEMANDING a medieval game. So, again, can I please get everyone to read this and think a moment what YOU yourself may have ever complained about and said negatively about EA as a whole in reflection of them not ever listening to their consumers and maybe come to the conclusion … that hey .. they are listening to you, and they are doing more for you than many other businesses out there and bending over backwards for what you want and ask for. Seems to me EA is not what everyone has been saying about them, and seems to me they should be commended for a long time for this. Now, can we go back to letting them be the good COMPANY they have ALWAYS been, and let them come out with some new things for the sims ? Thank you, no wait … no thanks to you, thanks should go out to EA you gave the consumers what they wanted. -full standing ovational applause-
Ok before people say… PETS?! AGAIN? well yes pets again
it’s one of the most wanted games for Sims players. Yes you may say… well there’s Sims 2 pets but if you are a sims fan and have already the Sims 3 game then you want an addition to that. Not play the old one! I want to give a round of applause for EA and I will be saving up to buy their Sims 3 Unleashed when it comes out! by the way, I think the Sims on horses are great 
It kind of dissappointing how they barely made any effort to create these 2 next EPs especially this one. They recycled an old name! they couldn’t be bothered throwing anything else in it other than animals. What’s the concept? Just animals? Talk about marketing startegies….
From names like World Adventures and Late Night they end up with Generations and now Unleahsed.
The next EP will be called “Seasons”(again) probably.
Looking forward to the animals, but some farm animals would be nice too. Would love to have some cows to go with all the animals.

i am a huge fan, sims3 is my life. i have every single sims 3 expantion pack thats out and iv been waiting for pets for a long time! but how many species of dogs and cats are there though?? the trailer on youtube doesnt show much. and horses are pets you can keep though right? is there gonna be a barn along with it or do we just have to build our own fence in the back yard? anyways thanks again CANT WAIT FOR OCTOBER!!!
Really looking forward to all the pets mentioned, the skunks, raccoons, snakes, deers, fish, dogs, cats and horses. Really looking forward to the sims riding the horses, but some farm animals would be nice. Especially cows, pigs or at least some farm animals. You have farm houses with bails of hay and barns so farm animals would be nice. Mainly cows. Can’t we have some farm animals too. That would be really cool.
I’m failing to see the problem here. Engel says we should let them get on and create new games. The Sims has been reinvented 3 times already, the whole idea of The Sims is not a new concept.
I don’t think it’s the intention to make a whole new game, EA have made many games that are nothing like the Sims. Rather, I think they are reworking a classic and therefore we should be able to have the things we loved about Sims 1 and 2.
What’s wrong with Medieval? I don’t have it but y son does and he seems to like it.
Why is it a problem for some people that the players request features and get them. What do you want? The Sims football classics or something?
The best way for EA to make money is to give the fans what they want, that’s what all good companies do.
I’m struggling to think what else they could do with The Sims other than give us what makes the game a life simulation.
Honestly, its a dream come true. I always wanted pets for my sims, but i didnt want to spend money on the sims 2 and sims2 pets to fuliful my wish. THANKS U EA SIMS 3 for have given my request!!!!
that’s how they make EVEN MORE money off of us. If we request, they create EVERYONE buys. EA want people to request game ideas so when it’s released they make even more sales. Pets and Seasons have always been the most popular expansions because it adds more reality to the game. But anyway, that’s EA’s decision if they are going to listen to the public FIRST, which they should do anyway, or listen to themselves and hope that their ideas are going to be good enough that the public is going to run to the stores and buy it.

why are you guys (engel especially) so upset that they made pets for the sims 3? the whole point of getting sims 3 is that is is an upgrade from the sims 1 and 2. you don’t have as many loading screens, new items, better graphics, etc. it is pretty much the same game, just better. so if someone wants a better version of sims 1: unleashed and sims 2: pets then why would it surprise you that the fans would want sims 3 to have pets as well? the reason for playing the sims is to create lives that each individual person believes to be really cool or intriguing or unreal and if that includes your dog or cat or if you just like animals and you can’t have one, then you can live vicariously through your sims. so stop whining about how ea needs to stop REPLICATING and get NEW CONCEPTS and realize that animals are part of the world. how are you going to have a simulation game that has so many aspects of it based on real life and the world around us and just omit something as evident and everyday as animals? animals and seasons are one of the few things on this earth that change and function as much as humans (a.k.a. sims). suck it up and enjoy the game. jeez
I cant wait for sims 3 pets to come out! I hope they have new job choices pet stores and a job profession veterinarians. I hope it has barns and more barn animals along with regular house hold pets (caged, small med large dogs, and cats) cant wait to see what they come up with

I think that having Sims 3 Unleashed is a great new thing! Peeps are saying: “Oh, but we had Pets on Sims 2!” Sims 2 Pets was (excuse my language) crap. It was really boring, it was so rubbish you couldn’t even take the dogs for walks on LEADS, how pathetic! And oh, peeps, since when did the crap Sims 2 Pets have horses, deer, racoons etc? Exactly! so basically, i wanted to ask if i buy the sims 3 and sims 3 pets, and i install them or download them or whatever. will they still be one game with sims in it but pets aswell or will it be two separate games?

Hi Superlily — the game is coming out in October and will likely be $39.99, since that’s what the previous Sims 3 expansions were priced at when they first came out.
Havok — The Sims 3: Pets Expansion Pack will be a “normal” expansion for The Sims 3 on PC. Only the console and handheld versions will be standalone games. So on PC, you’ll need The Sims 3 and the Pets expansion to have animals added to your existing neighborhoods.
