SimCity to Facebook?

SimCity is finally returning to computers -- well, sort of. According to an article on MCV, it's actually being remodeled as a Facebook game. While no details have been announced yet, dollars to donuts says you'll have to add friends as neighboring cities in order to do anything meaningful.

You'll probably then bombard members of your social circle with messages like "Steve needs six bags of concrete for a statue, will you help him out?" All kidding aside, this is potentially great news. If people love the Facebook version, it will make it a lot easier to justify a full-fledged computer game release in the spirit of earlier titles in the city-building franchise.

Have you heard anything more about Sim City release on Facebook? I work with Future City in Sweden, a school project where we use Sim City 4 as a part of the competition. The DVD version are slowy creating more and more technical problems and we are looking for something to replace Sim City with. But if we could keep it, it would be great.

Hi Ann-Charlotte!

Good news! There should be an announcement about the next version of SimCity on March 6, 2012. At least that’s what Electronic Arts has been hinting at for the last few weeks, leading up to the Game Developer’s Conference in San Francisco, CA. You’ll be able to watch the announcement directly from EA’s website here.
