"The Sims Makin' Magic" Expansion Pack

About.com Rating four out of Five

By Courtney Marchelletta, About.com

Your family's lot will go through changes a family become more magical. As you start to cast more spells, you'll notice magic growth on your lots. They are pretty flowers and beanstalks, which offer a special surprise when they are full grown.

With "Makin' Magic" comes a new pet, a dragon! A dragon's nest is available at a stand, along with a toy and treats. After you bring the dragon home, its personality is determined on how you interact with the egg. Beware, dragons love to burn things down!

If you're not into magic, you are probably wondering what in the expansion pack you may like. I'm not big on the magic, and probably won't use it beyond The Goths. Of course, there are the new objects, baking oven, and bug fixes. "Makin' Magic" is probably the least buggy of all the packs. The baking oven has you adding ingredients (baking mix, sugar, etc.) bought in Magic Town, mixing them, and making delicious meals.

I had entirely too much fun dragging Bella out in the middle of the night to perform magic acts, and watching the dragon cause chaos in the Newbies' house. Like other expansion packs, at first new features consume your playing. Eventually, you'll go back to normal playing ways, while using magic where it fits.
