If you preordered, some stores started shipping early (EB Games has shipped date as September 14) and you'll receive the game earlier. The same is true for in-store preorders. Availablity of the game will depend on your location, store, and whether you preordered or not. The best way to know if the game is available is to call game stores in your area. "The Sims 2" should be on the majority of store shelves on September 17th.
