"The Sims Hot Date Expansion Pack

Guide Rating -

Graphics
The artwork on the new objects are excellent. The new objects are creative and fun. The graphics still have the same "simmy" look to them, which is a style I enjoy. They aren't perfect of course. Objects like to peek out over other objects at times, and the Sims can look very funny if there is a large group trying to go in different directions. Previous versions have also had this same problem. And of course there is always the issue of not having enough RAM and fast video card to really get smooth animations.

Sound
Not much new in the sound part of "The Sims." However, it is rather amusing to just sit back and listen to the chaos in your favorite diner. There is never a lack of something going on; at least not Downtown. The Sims seem to be a bit "noisy" when kissing or hugging; at least it seems that way to me. I've never been able to not play without the sound on; and I'll continue to keep playing with the sound on.

Installation
Installation is where this expansion pack fails. Many people, including myself, had problems getting the expansion pack to install. Sometimes it'll install fully, but won't play correctly. Or maybe it just won't complete the installation. The majority of installation problems can be solved by remembering to insert your latest previous version, like "House Party," when asked for it. Another important note is that the game does come with a short installation manual that you should read carefully. This will also help prevent problems.

Overall
If you are a devoted Sims fan, I don't hesitate in recommending this one. In fact, I suggest you stop reading this and go get it now! As I mentioned before, this expansion pack can be difficult to install. Not everyone will have problems, but I do know of a lot who did. Once you do get it installed, you'll see that the effort was worth every minute. This is by far the best expansion pack. It adds the much needed new social interactions and Downtown. Now we can satisfy our shopping addictions through Sim malls. There is so much more to say about "Hot Date." But I'll let you discover the little details for yourself.

ESRB Rating - Teen for comic mischief, mature sexual themes, and mild violence.
