Guide Review
"Napoleon's Greatest Victory"
Austerlitz is one of Napoleon's greatest battles. Why? I'll give you the short version. Napoleon, a French emperor, defeated the combined armies of Russia and Austria when the world believed it wouldn't happen.

If you played "Waterloo" then you'll be familiar with the interface and gameplay. If not, the game comes with an excellent manual and six tutorial lessons. "Austerlitz" may not be the easiest game to learn, but you are given lots of tools to learn with.

Gameplay is just as you would expect. You are the commander of an army after you choose from a historical or speculative battle. An interesting feature I didn't expect was game time equaled real time. If a battle lasted 30 minutes, there would be 30 minutes of actual gameplay. Be ready for a real challenge when you play the 8 hour battles.

The graphics usually either make or break the game. "Austerlitz" has disappointing graphics. Sure there are multiple levels of zoom, but the closer views are pixelated and are not suitable for using during battles.

The manual, tutorial missions, and interesting gameplay, is proof the developer and publisher took their time before sending the game to the printers. However, since I am not a history buff or hardcore wargamer, the combination of low quality sound and graphics will keep me from playing in the future.
