Build a Jurassic Park
"Dinosaur Digs," as you might expect, adds prehistoric animals, trees, shops, and decorations. If having a tar pit, an exploding volcano, or a dinosaur in your zoo appeals to you then you should consider this expansion pack.
The new animals have mainly cosmetic differences from previous animals. They aren't any more amusing then the original "Zoo Tycoon" animals. They do, of course, have their own unique needs and sounds. And watching dinosaurs get electrocuted from the electric fences is amusing, since they are dumb enough to keep hitting the same spot repeatedly.
A new feature that I adore is the ability to filter out objects and animals by which version they were introduced in. This feature makes it very easy to build a zoo in just objects and decorations from "Dinosaur Digs" or from the original "Zoo Tycoon." An excellent idea to add early on, specially with the promise of more expansion packs.
I was curious as to what happened when a dinosaur got out of his exhibit. The results may be the most entertaining aspect of the expansion pack. The dinosaur trampled his way through the zoo, picking up visitors (sometimes tossing them in the air), and then eating them. It was almost as amusing as the dinosaurs and visitors getting electrocuted (that'll teach me not to put walkways so close to fences) from the electric fence.
"Dinosuar Digs" may not offer ground breaking gameplay, but it does add variety to the game. The gameplay is essentially the same, now with bigger animals to keep caged in. If you don't like the original "Zoo Tycoon," this expansion pack won't change your opinions about the game. Chances are it will renew interest for "Zoo Tycoon" fans.
