In Law and Order Interactive you will play two roles; one as lead detective and the other as the Assistant District Attorney. Collecting the evidence (you can even take photographs) is just the beginning to this sure to be challenging and exciting game. You'll need to decide which evidence is relevant to the case, and just what it all means. The decision of whether it was an act of rage or an accident will be up to you.

After collecting the evidence you'll be able to run tests, then sort through the results. From the results you must decide what exactly happened at the crime scene. This stage will be vital, since you'll need to have proof when it comes time for the trial You also have a chance to interview possible witnesses and suspects. You'll even be able to choose from three different interrogation strategies, ranging from good cop - bad cop, friendly to aggressive.

Once the gathering evidence stage is over, you must arrest the suspect. After the suspect is apprehended, fingerprints will be taken and a few questions asked. That will be your last task as lead detective. At this stage you'll need to switch identities and become the Assistant District Attorney.

As the Assistant District Attorney, you'll need to call witnesses to the stand in court and the defense will cross-examine your witnesses. Once you have called all your witnesses to the stand, the defense will have a chance to present their case. Then, you'll be able to make your final arguments. After that, it's in the hands of the jury. It's up to the jury to decide if you furnished enough evidence to make a conviction.

I bet you are wondering what the first few cases are like now. The first case is about the murder of a scientist conducting cloning experiments. The second is also a murder case involving a female investment banker who specializes in tech stock. From the first cases, it seems safe to say, that the cases will involve issues and concerns we are dealing with today.

Throughout gameplay you will be given points based upon whether you did too much, too little, or just enough. You won't be given forever to figure out whom the criminal is. You'll need to be efficient because you are only given a specific amount of time to work through the case.

Come winter 2002, be ready for a thrilling game that will keep you on your toes. The game will be available in CD-ROM and DVD formats. Plans for additional downloads after registering online are in the works.
