Update: Microsoft has posted a message on the "Flight Simulator 2002" site.
Microsoft has postponed the release of the new version of "Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002," due to the recent terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and The Pentagon. Minimal changes will be made to "Flight Simulator 2002." The only change that will be made is the removal of the World Trade Center. A patch for previous versions is in the works. The patch removes a flight sequence portraying a plane crashing into a skyscraper. This patch should be available in one to two weeks and for download on the Micrsoft website.
Some stores have pulled "Microsoft Flight Simulator" from their shelves. There is speculation that terrorists could have used the game to help them learn how to fly a plane. Experts claim that there is not a relation between the two.
Microsoft has not announced a new release date, which was originally due out in October. It is expected to be released in Decemeber or early 2002.
