Designed in collaboration with the motor industry, Auto Club Revolution is an online racing game featuring licensed vehicles from more than 40 auto manufacturers. The game is offered for free, with a progression system that lets players unlock cars at specific points during the game as well as performance upgrades, tracks, and customization features. Items can also be purchased for real-world cash, in the form of "E-Bucks" as well as credits that are earned by completing challenges and finishing races.
Developed by racing game veterans at Eutechnyx, Auto Club Revolution offers simulation-style handling and physics for those who want this style of experience. The physics model designed for the game incorporates suspension, engine torque, tire models, gear ratios, mass, inertia, and other variables to deliver accurate acceleration, braking, and cornering based on each licensed vehicle in the game. For those more used to arcade-style handling, the game offers a series of driving assists to make handling cars easier.
Each player has a profile in which they can add a biography, share their favorite cars or music while driving, and more with other online players. The profile also supports progress tracking and is updated with the last achievements earned while playing the game, allowing users to monitor their performance and compare the performances of their friends and other players as well.
Social features in Auto Club Revolution include chat support within race lobbies, directly with friends via instant messaging, and during the race itself. As players unlock and own specific cars in Auto Club Revolution, they will gain access to that car manufacturer’s auto club, which is a private club of sorts that offers specific competitions, leaderboards, and content.
Players can race their favorite vehicle using a variety of control options. Keyboard and mouse options are available for both menu navigation and racing, as well as game controller and steering wheel support. Among the featured cars available include Bentley Continental GT Speed, BMW Z4 M Coupe, Acura NSX, BMW M5, Ford Focus ST, Ford GT, Jaguar XKR-S, Lotus Europa SE, Mazda RX-7 Spirit R Type-A, Nissan Skyline R34 NISMO GT-R, Opel Corsa OPC, TVR T350T, TVR Tuscan S, and Vauxhall VXR8.
The game’s real-world tracks include Daytona International Speedway, the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Silverstone, and Infineon Raceway. Auto Club Revolution also includes other tracks inspired by real-world locales, including the L.A. River Sprint and L.A. River Circuit. Race types include point-to-point races, multi-lap races, and drag races.
Registering for a free account will allow you access to a home page, where you'll be able to view your first car, an Opel Corsa OPC, which can be painted different colors and entered in a race so you can post your fastest lap times on the leaderboards. You'll be able to complete a series of tutorials and then open up various challenges so you can earn experience points. At any time, you'll be able to add "E-Bucks" to your account to purchase faster cars and other items to enhance your racing experience.
