Description:

Publisher Codemasters’ off-road racing series adds one part smash and another part crash with DiRT Showdown, an extension of the best-selling DiRT franchise. Featuring jumps, crossover points, and obstacles like barrels or tire walls, each outdoor course is also home to a variety of events that will encourage players to engage in collisions, perform tricks, and destroy objects as they compete against up to seven other racers.

Each car is equipped with nitrous oxide for high-speed boosting as players zip over ramps, careen into rivals, and plow into obstacles. Over 50 events are included, spread across four distinct championships, which will have players competing under various weather conditions during the day and night. Money is earned for each event that can be used to advance your career, purchasing new upgrades and vehicles.

Events fall under three styles of racing in DiRT Showdown: racing, demolition, and freestyle. The demolition derbies will have you repeatedly battering your opponents, but instead of being the last vehicle running, you’re trying to finish with the most points at the end of a time limit. Races will have you trading paint against your rivals as you attempt a first-place finish. Hoonigan events take place in stunt parks as you attempt to score as many points as possible in a free-roaming environment.

Featured venues include San Francisco, Miami, London, and Tokyo, with each event kicked off with pyrotechnics, lasers, and jam-packed seats as fans cheer you on. Vehicles range from hearses and vans to pick-up trucks and muscle cars. Up to eight players can compete online, and players can post video clips of their performances via YouTube integration. Players can also issue challenges to their friends to encourage them to beat their high scores in a given event.
