The Bottom Line

The Logitech G15 keyboard offers features that regular keyboards do not have. System information is easily available, there are many programmable buttons, and the backlit keys makes gaming in the dark easier. Most gamers will be able to live without these features, and should invest their money into another game instead of hardware they don't really need.

Guide Review - Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard

The Logitech G15 Keyboard has a couple of things going for it. Okay, maybe more than a couple, but I'm thinking of my favorite features. The first is the backlit keyboard. I like not having to lift the keyboard up next to the monitor to find a key out of my normal typing zone. Every keyboard should be like that! Gaming or doing work in the dark, is a lot easier with the G15.

My second favorite feature, is small, but important, and may depend on individual preference. I love the feel of the keys. It's so easy to push on them. Your hands can fly over the keyboard.

A main feature many gamers won't really need (want maybe, but not need) is the programmable buttons. There are 18 buttons and 3 modes. Plus, you can use the Profiler Software to help you set up profiles for your games. It recognized some of my games right off, like "The Sims 2." You don't need to associate the keys with something that is being done in the game. A button could be programmed to open your email program, for example.

My biggest problem with the keyboard is the size. It does not fit well on the keyboard tray of my desk, along with my mouse. If you're lucky enough to have lots of desk space, this won't be an issue.

If you are looking for a new keyboard, the G15 is worth checking out. Because of the expensive though, carefully consider whether you really need the extra features. The majority of gamers won't need the extras or want them.
