Making Crafts
A feature that allowed Sims to make their own objects has been high on the wish list for gamers. The craft-making stations with "The Sims 2 Open for Business" won't have you making custom objects, but they will give choices for the type of craft and a color. With the stations, Sims can create robots, floral arrangement, and toys. Sims pay for material costs and then try to see the item for a profit. There is even a pet brick. Have your Sim teach the brick a trick if you need something to make you laugh.
Not all of the toys Sims make will work the way they were intended, there are some evil toys. You'll know them when you see them. An evil Jack-in-the-box will scare a child, not send them into giggles. Sims can sell the evil toys.

Conclusion
Owning a business and getting that business to the highest possible rank, is rightly so, not easy. Because of the level of involvement that comes with a business (especially one on a community lot), there isn't as much time for a social or family life. Owning a business is not going to be for every family, it'll be for a minority of your families. For this reason, I don't see this has a must-have expansion. With that said, the addition of businesses adds a new dimension and adds a new layer of depth to the overall game. Think about how many families you see owning a business, the non-business related features, and to decide if "The Sims 2 Open for Business" is right for you and your Sims.
