The Bottom Line

The "Medal of Honor" series is changing gears from Hitler to the Pacific theatre of World War II. The game isn't all about defeating the enemy, there is also a human aspect. You are a Private in the Marines, you will see cutscenes that show the emotional toll and aspect of the war. The stoyline and battles (plus the extras from the Director's edition) will please combat fans and history buffs.

Guide Review - "Medal of Honor : Pacific Assault" Review

You are Marine Corps Private Tom Conlin. You are there when Pearl Harbor is attacked and soon you are shipped off to Japan to fight battles against the enemy is the jungle. "Medal of Honor Pacific Assault" delivers what you would expect from a FPS. There are multiple levels you play through with the option of difficulty level.

As you play through each level, you have chances to earn special hero moments. The hero moments are one element that makes the game have a human feel. The cut scenes between battles also reflect what happened during the battles. You will see the inner struggle with events.

The Director's Edition includes everything in the standard version and a few extras. The extras include: exclusive weapons, timeline presentation, footage of the Silent Drill Platoon, video about war propaganda, behind-the-scenes info, and features for history buffs.

The game pushes the limits of even the best computers. To fully enjoy the game, you'll need a powerful computer, but even then, expect long loading times. The graphics and sound are superb. "Pacific Assault" lacks the polish of "Allied Assault," and does have a cheating computer AI. Despite this, it's still a must-have for sim gamers who enjoy realistic combat.
