Buying a car makes a Sim's life that much easier.

By , About.com Guide

No more waiting for a taxi or the carpool! Those days are over with the addition of buyable cars. Sims can drive the cars to work or to a community lot. Teens can drive themselves to school, if they are lucky and have kind parents.

The Cars

There are 5 cars that are range in prices from 950 to 11950. They are affordable for every family, and a must have once you get use to having one. Cars are assigned ownership by clicking on them, and choosing who the owner is. From then on, the bus or carpool will not show up for that Sim. Sims also get an extra hour to get to work when they take their own car. If a Sim is suppose to be there at 11, they have until 12 to show up.

Teens & Cars
Teens are lucky for in the Sim world, they do not have to take a driver's test. They automatically can drive a car and go to school or to a community lot.

Carpooling
Sims in the same family that go to work at the same time can go to work together. Just choose the 'Carpool to Work With...' option by clicking on the car. The same goes for a teen owner. S/he can bring all the kids and teens to school. If the Sims return at different times, then the non-owner will come back home on the bus or carpool.

Cars must be parked on a driveway, which can be found in build mode. Cars are available in buy mode under miscellaneous.
