"The Sims 2" : Buying Groceries

Keep the fridge stocked by buying groceries.

By Courtney Marchelletta, About.com

In the original "The Sims," the sim family would be charged for the food as it was taken from the fridge. This is no longer the way in "The Sims 2." When you buy a fridge, it comes fully stocked with food units. Each meal is worth a certain amount of food units, and is deducted from the total each time a Sim takes out food.

How to Buy Groceries
To keep the fridge full of food, you must have a Sim buy groceries. There are three ways to get food. One way, and the cheapest way, is to go to a community lot with a food stand and buy food. The other two ways are similar to each other. A Sim can have food delivered to their house by ordering a delivery using the phone or a computer. A 50 simolean delivery charge is added to the overall cost.

Check Food Level
Check the food level by having a Sim 'check food supplies.' Children are able to check. No warning is given when food is about to run out or is gone.
