The day Sims become teenagers is the day their aspiration is chosen. Aspirations dictate their wants and fears. Put a little thought into which aspiration you pick. Players without "The Sims 2 Nightlife (comes with an object to change aspiration) or "The Sims 2 University" (can change in 3rd year of school) are stuck with the aspiration for the rest of the Sims' life.
1. Popularity Aspiration

Who wants to party? The phone will never stop ringing in Popularity Sims' home. These are great Sims to have in the house to boost overall friends. Making best friends and entertaining others makes these Sims happy.
2. Romance Aspiration

The more loves the better. Romance Sims are interested in the chase, not monogamy. It's all about wooohooo for them. They move from conquest to conquest, never wanting to stay with one lover for too long. In fact, they even fear getting engaged or married. It's a tragic moment in their eyes. For these reasons this is the perfect aspiration for the permanent bachelor.
3. Knowledge Aspiration

Knowledge sims are the book geeks of "The Sims 2." These guys love to spend their hours playing chess, reading, and improving skills. It's wonderful to satisfy their wants while working towards a promotion. Shhh, just don't tell them that's your motive.
4. Family Aspiration

All a Family sim wants is to have a house full of children and grandchildren. Their desires rarely involve just themselves. They want to read to children, potty train toddlers, see their family members get married, and be romantic with their spouse.
5. Fortune Aspiration

Money, money, money! Fortune sims will do anything required to get a promotion. Making friends and earning required skills are on their top of their list. Once they have their high paying job, it's all about buy stuff and more stuff. Buy a big house for Fortune sims. You'll need the room for all the junk they want to buy.

"The Sims 2 Nightlife" adds 2 more aspirations to the list. The Pleasure wants to enjoy life and not worry about the serious stuff. The second aspiration, Grilled Cheese, cannot be picked but gained through an accident using the ReNuYuSenso Orb.
