Description:
Barnacle Bay is the first paid downloadable world for The Sims 3, initially released via The Sims 3 Store. As the title suggests, this destination for your Sims features a pirate theme. Located in the "Simuyan Sea," Barnacle Bay offers several ways for your Sims to relax and unwind. There are beaches, campgrounds, a fishing hole and a downtown area.
Sims can investigate the abandoned piers on Founder’s Beach, examine the lost relics of Goldbeard Galleon Gallery, and solve a mystery at Pirate’s Hideaway. Barnacle Bay does not, however, feature new adventures, careers, or gameplay elements. It is simply another location for your Sims to visit or live. Two gathering points for food and drink include Hogan’s Deep Sea Diner, which is located in a converted pirate ship, and The Wanderer’s Watering Hole.
You’ll be able to encounter new Sims, including some ghosts, and establish a home on one of the new lots. There are 18 exclusive décor and clothing items are available in Barnacle Bay, allowing you to customize your Sims and dwellings with various nautical or pirate-themed gear.
The original Barnacle Bay was released in 2010 for 2,000 SimPoints ($20). On March 7, 2011, Electronic Arts released a bundled version that included the original Barnacle Bay world and the following additions: the Buccaneer's Bounty Set and two new staircase options.
Pirate clothing options in the Buccaneer's Bounty Set include the "High Seas Jr." for children, the "Formal Assailant" for men, and both the "Sea Witch" and "Charmed" dresses for women.
Interior décor options in the Buccaneer's Bounty Set consist of a chess table, telescope, ship steering wheel (which can be mounted on walls), a bar and a bar stool. Outdoor décor options include two fountains (Fun Time With Kraken and Poseidon's Fury), an anchor, a cannon, a birdbath, and a clam-shell planter.
