The Sims 3 Hidden Springs is a downloadable world for your Sims in which to explore, relax and socialize. Among the destinations included are a luxury spa by a lake, a ski lodge, wooded areas, fishing spots, and the mysterious (ominous?) "Museum of Magic and Supernatural."
The Redwood Heights Luxury Lodge is the premier destination for wealthy and famous Sims, while those who prefer meditation over mingling can relax at the Crystal Solarium Rejuvenating Waters, which may or may not have the power to heal.
Hidden Springs is a resort town surrounded by mountains and modeled after such trendy vacation spots as the Alps, Lake Tahoe, and Aspen. There are 50 new playable Sims, 25 families, and an assortment of non-player characters (NPCs).
The resident Sims range from retired movie stars and jewel thieves to socialites and former athletes. In addition to the wealthy and elite Sims, there are Sims that live in the woods and adopt a more natural style of living. These Sims are notable for having a greenish tint to their skin.
You'll even have a royal family -- the Vanderburgs -- whose overbearing matriarch is desperately trying to marry off her children so she can have grand-kids. Rustic houses with stained glass windows and ornate mansions can be found in Hidden Springs, and there are 15 exclusive new items available, including new fence, window, arch, and door options.
Hidden Springs also includes six new outfits: four for females (three dresses and one top) and two for males (a casual shirt and a sports jacket and slacks combo). Easily the most unusual object is the legendary fountain of youth. Drinking from the fountain of youth will let your Sim stop the aging process for one entire day.
Your Sim can even decide to make a wish to become young again, but there is a risk involved. Wishes may result in no change, or they can adversely affect your Sim's current traits. If the wish is granted, however, your Sim will forever be in the prime of his or her life.
Other destinations of note include the Fairyfolk Park and the Silver Zephyr Health Spa, where the latest breakthroughs in health and beauty are available. There are also areas where you can fish, find seeds and discover rare gems. Tying this world of recreational respite together is a mystery surrounding the properties of the titular Hidden Springs. What sort of magic is lurking beneath these powerful waters?
The Sims 3 Hidden Springs will be exclusively available for purchase at the Sims Store on August 25, 2011. The Sims 3 base game is required in order to use the new destination.
