Installation of "The Sims" is relatively easy. Simply insert the CD and a prompt to install should appear. From there, simply follow the directions. You won't need to do anything special, except at the end you'll be asked if you would like to register. But it can get complicated once you start installing expansion packs.

Order to Install "The Sims" Expansion Packs

Expansion packs should be installed in the order they were released for the best results. This is ensure you have the correct versions of the files. You can install "The Sims Deluxe" over the original and packs you already have.

The Order is:

  • "The Sims" or "The Sims Deluxe" or "The Sims Mega Deluxe"
  • "Living Large"
  • "House Party"
  • "Hot Date"
  • "Vacation"
  • "Unleashed"
  • "Superstar"
  • "Makin' Magic"
