Historical sims recreate a past event or time period as accurately as possible. Many of the games are also included in other genres with simulation game, like combat or flight. This is a great genre for history buffs.
1. "Sid Meier's Civil War Collection"
This collection includes Sid Meier's Antietam and Gettysburg games. These games recreate two very famous battles in U.S history. You can take command of the Union or the Confederate. Online and LAN options are also available.
2. "Waterloo: Napoleon's Last Battle"
"Waterloo" is similar to Sid Meier's civil war games, except this time you Napoleon's or Wellington's army. There are lots of scenarios, and you create your own battles. This game is a good challenge, and allows you to play against others online.
"Age of Sail II" is a fantastic historical naval sim that is set in the late 18th century. Lack of options is something this game doesn't have. There are over 1,200 different ships and over 100 scenarios to play.
"IL-2 Sturmovik" is a WWII combat flight simulator. If you are looking for a combat flight simulator, look no further. This game has awesome features. There is an excellent mission builder, multiplayer features (up to 32 players in dogfight mode), and stunning graphics. The combat takes place in the air, and from the air to the ground. Anyone interested in war and/or flight will enjoy this one.
