Nowadays you can find a tycoon game for just about any topic (anything from prison to running a school). Tycoon games typically involve a lot of management of whatever topic the game is covering. Finding a good tycoon game can be tough. Many budget titles just slap on tycoon to the subject and call it good. There are some tycoon games out there worth playing. Don't dismiss a game just because it has tycoon at the end of its title!

I know, I know, growing plants? Watching plants grow? Sounds a lot like watching paint dry. "Plant Tycoon" is not the boring game it sounds. Breeding and cross-breeding plants is far more entertaining than I imagined. The big puzzle of "Plant Tycoon" is to find the 6 magic plants. You don't have to sit and wait for the results of crossing breeding. Real-time play means that the plants grow while you are away from the game.
"Fish Tycoon"

I never would have expected "Fish Tycoon" to be so addictive. In this game, your job is to find the magical fish by breeding fish. You'll find yourself checking to see if your baby fish have grown and what new hybrid breeds you have created. Money is earned by setting a price and selling fish. You'll need the cash to buy fish eggs and tank improvements. If we could only have one fish game, this would be the one.
"Zoo Tycoon 2"
