From the article: "The Sims 2" Career Track Guide
It's not just a job. A career track can change your Sims' success story. Pick a career totally wrong for your Sims skills and it'll be difficult to keep them on skill building tasks. Or choose a career that doesn't pay well. Big families need lots of food.
How do you go about picking career tracks? Do you match up their major? Is there are career track you think is the easiest to reach level 10? Or maybe there is a career your love for the reward object. Share your strategy with us.

Careers
- When your sim is an adult and has children, check their lifetime aspiration and see if they want to be the head in a certain career. If so, use the parents' job rewards (that is, if they have earned them yet) and make the children (or teens) use those items to build their skills. The obstacle course from the military career really comes in handy with children in gaining body skill. Make your sims kids run on the obstacle course as much as they can, it builds up their fun bar very quickly and they gain a body skill point about every 2 to 3 sim hours! All of my sims have 10 body skill points before theyre even adults! Teens are much better at gaining body than adults, so if your sim is in the athletic, criminal, law enforcement, or military career field, make sure they get plenty of excercise as teens!! Keep simming!!

Overall tip
- If you have a family of 2 adults (preferably 3) have all but one get jobs. Use the spare sim to build up strong friendships with other sims. This just makes getting promotion easier. Obviously this spare sim will also have heeps of spare time on hand so have them study up on each skill.
